THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK / 02

The sky was never just a destination.

Long before he ever piloted a plane, Philip Moynihan was a child lying in a Vermont clover field, looking upward and wondering what it would feel like to fly.

Spirit of the Sky Walkers follows that enduring curiosity into the cockpit. Alongside Penny, Philip spent more than three decades traveling across North America in their Mooney aircraft, collecting remarkable views, encounters, and memories along the way.

Part aviation history, part personal memoir, the book opens each chapter with poetry—inviting even readers who have never flown a small aircraft to feel something of its exhilaration.

THE WORLD

MEET THE AUTHOR / 04

An engineer's eye.
A writer's wonder.

Philip I. Moynihan, PhD, spent much of his career solving problems as an aerospace engineer. But writing, observation, and a deep curiosity about the world were always part of his life.

In retirement, that curiosity has become a growing body of stories and essays, reaching from the skies he once explored with Penny to the wildlife in the hills near home and the questions that keep us thinking.
